We are constantly monitoring inflection points… taking profits and reducing risk… occasionally adding to positions and increasing exposure… and, of course, hunting for attractive new trade setups. In carrying this out, all our insights and thought processes — including real executions in real time — are faithfully communicated via the Mercenary Live Feed. So why do this? Why share all this valuable research, instead of just keeping the goods to ourselves? For a few reasons… First, because of the discipline: Articulating a viewpoint — clearly and rationally explaining the logic behind a trade — goes far in enhancing clarity of mind. And that clarity of mind makes us better traders.
Second, because of the camaraderie: We love hearing from our fellow traders. We love the joys and sorrows, the triumphs and tribulations. When Live Feed members write to us to share their war stories, we rejoice in their successes (and sympathize with their setbacks). It’s a “band of brothers” thing. We got to where we are through the help of others, and want to extend that same hand. Third, because our strategies allow this:
We do not trade penny stocks or other “illiquids.” We do not traffic in thinly traded options with wide bid-ask spreads. Our multi-week swing trading methodology has ample capacity and is not harmed by sharing signals with a select group of traders. Fourth — and let’s just be straight here — because of the cash flow: The ideal situation for a trader is to have substantially all of his or her risk capital available for trading, with minimal concern for “paying the light bill.”
And last but not least, we do this because it’s a hell of a lot of fun. Man oh man are we having a blast. (And you, as a valued member of the Mercenary community, are an absolute part of that!) With all the above said, capacity is definitely limited. We never want the Live Feed membership base to grow too large, because signal capacity really does become an actionable concern beyond a certain threshold. And thus, as a safety precaution, we monitor our general fill quality carefully. If we ever feel that subscriber capacity is nearing the max threshold, we will restrict access to the Live Feed. This “access restriction” can happen at any time. When it does, the doors will close to new entrants.
